Don We Now

Don We Now

December 8 - Isaiah 61:8-11

v.10 “for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;

he has covered me with the robe of righteousness”

How early do you decorate for Christmas? For us, it typically takes a few days past Thanksgiving to decide to tackle the decorations. We wait even longer to get a tree, so it isn't dried out and dropping needles by Christmas Eve.

In our house, the first sign Christmas is coming is usually when the kids start wearing Christmas pajamas. What is more irresistible than a two-legged reindeer or a two-foot Santa elf?

The prophet Isaiah envisions a world in which the offspring of God proudly wear their garments of salvation, making God's praise known to the nations. They are as radiant as a bride and groom on their wedding day.

"Where are you, people of God?" "We are everywhere, sprouting like the garden of the earth, decked in divine favor, singing,

‘Don we now our God’s apparel!’”

Lord, you have exchanged our rags for your riches, as you have clothed us in the righteousness of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. May the world know the God who adorns our hearts. Amen.
